Avery's first broken arm
As some of you may already know, Avery recently fell on the playground while playing at the park. She was hanging from the monkey bars and was holding on with dear life. Unfortunately she couldn't hold on any longer and I was about 2 seconds too late to catch her. She fell to the ground and landed on her arm. Poor thing was in pretty bad pain for the next couple of days.
A few days went by and we had noticed she was still favoring her left hand and not using her right hand at all. It was still pretty swollen too. We decided to take her to urgent care where they did an x ray and told us she had a buckle fracture. Luckily the bone wasn't completely broken, but it still need a cast and they referred us to an orthopedic surgeon.
I was able to get her in two days later and they did another x ray, which confirmed it was definately a fracture. The doctor was pretty cool and he was really great with her. He let Avery pick out the color of cast she wanted. I was amazed that she didn't choose pink and went with the purps (purple) cast instead! She has to wear it for the next few weeks, and should heal nicely. The hard part will be keeping it clean, dry, and sand free!
While having breakfast this morning, Avery says to me, "Next time I can get a pink cast!"
