Awards Assembly

Avery and Callum had their end of the year Awards Assembly this week at school. Callum received First Honors and the Kiwanis Terrific kid award!!

Avery received an award for being one of the Multiplication Masters in her class this year! We are so very proud of both of them!!

Temescal Valley Faire

We attended the annual Temescal Valley Faire last weekend. The surrounding communities come together and and enjoy a fun filled day with fellow neighbors and friends. There's always lots of free crafts and fun activities for the kids to do. Petting zoos, face painting, pony rides, raffle contests, cotton candy, snow cones, hot dogs, and even a watermelon contest. You can't beat that! The kids always have a great time and always enjoy seeing their friends!

After waiting in line for over an hour for the face paint, Avery was happy to get a cool tiger on her cheek.

Jazz Recital Costume

Recital costumes are in...yay!!! This seasons' costume is filled with lots of glitter and shiny rainbow sequince. Avery is getting very excited for her June recital and has been working very hard with her class every week.  She came out of class very happy last week because Miss Lyndsay had given her and a couple of other girls some bigger parts in the dance. She's very much looking forward to June's perfomance!! Here is a sneak preview of this years recital costume. :)

BYSC Soccer

Callum is doing great with soccer! He has been on the BYSC Soccer team for a couple weeks now and he loooves it. The soccer camp he attended a few weeks back really sparked his interest and made him want to get out there. Tuesdays are his training days and Thursdays are game days, which he gets very pumped up for. The coaches are great with the kids and very patient. It is well structured and focuses on being a team player. He has so much energy out on the field and really loves being a part of a team!

Here are the various soccer teams, which are based on age and some of their coaches. Callum is towards the middle in the last row, in the bright green :)

Soccer Camp

The kids have been keeping very busy this Spring Break. We had signed Callum up for a two day soccer camp at one of the local Soccer Leagues in the area. He was able to get out on the field with other kids and learn the basics of soccer. He absolutely loved every minute of it, so we made the decision to put him in a soccer league. I think this will be great for him!!

Community Service

Avery's teacher Mrs. McCloud, had recently assigned each one of her students to do a service to help the community. Fortunately they got to choose what service they wanted to do. Avery decided she was going clean our local park by picking up some of the trash on the soccer field and walking trails. I think she chose a very good service and I'm proud of her for helping to create a cleaner environment at our community park. I think this was a great assignment!

Callum Looses his First Tooth

Callum lost his first tooth last night! So.... I wish I could say it just fell out on its own, but that's not really the case. After he had finished brushing his teeth I went over to take a look at it. Well, it was already loose and the second tooth was already making its way out. So I was going to wiggle the tooth a little in hopes to get it to come out quicker. As I went to go push it back, almost the entire tooth popped out. It was hanging by a string, not to mention there was quite a bit of blood which I think really freaked him out. So after a few minutes of rinsing his mouth, his dad lightly pulled the the rest of the tiny tooth out and there it was! It all happened so fast he didn't know what to think at first. After his gums settled down he was very happy and put his tooth in an envelope for the tooth fairy. He was so excited to tell his friends at school this morning.

Callum's 1st tooth!

.........and his envelope to the tooth fairy. He put an arrow right next to where the tooth was :)

Happy Birthday Callum!!!

My little guy turned 7 years old this week and what a great birthday week it was! Lots of fun birthday dinners, lunches, and gifts, as well as lots of Star Wars sword fights and flying nerf gun darts throughout our house this week. A big thank you to everyone for all the wonderful gifts! Callum is very excited to be 7. Wow, I can't believe I wrote 7. I was thinking back to his first birthday last night and got a bit emotional. I remembered thinking then how fast he was growing and here we are 6 years later. Seriously, where is the pause button? I adore watching him grow everyday and seeing the little man he is turning into. I love him to infinity and I wish him the bestest bestest Birthday ever! Happy Birthday to my sweet little guy!! xo :)

Lego Land

Another fun day at Lego Land. Lines weren't too bad and the weather was perfect. At the end of the day, there were some tired little feet (and big feet), but we couldn't have asked for a more beautiful day!!

Lunch with a Loved One

This week was "Lunch with a Loved One" day at school. I was able to have lunch with my two favorite little people. I had lunch with my little guy first before he ran off to get in some play time, before going back to class. Then I met my Avery afterwards for a picnic in the school courtyard. Most of the parents end up bringing their kids lots of yummy fast food for lunch. I usually try to keep it simple and pack a special lunch for them, and also that way, I don't have to fight the traffic in the fast food lines with all the other parents...lol. My friend Shelley took this picture of Avery and I. Unfortunately I didn't get a pic of Cal and I, but it's okay. I had a great lunch with both my little kiddos!

First Honors

My little guy received 2nd Trimester Gold Honor Roll at today's Awards Assembly. I'm so proud of him and I love how he always works so hard. It was great to be able to recognize his achievements at today's assembly. Here's my little guy with his certificate. Sorry phone camera is so blurry, I will need to start using my regular camera. :0)

Penquin Attack

I love reading Callum's short stories that he writes in school. I'm not sure his teacher saw this one because there was no grade on it, but I thought it was witty and such the typical boys' story. He's got quite an imagination!

Heart Boy and Heart Girl

I found this little story stuffed in Callum's back pack that he had written in school. I thought it was cute and somewhat true when you think about it. I think I'll be keeping this one for awhile. ;)

Project Day at Home Depot

Avery and Cal always look forward to Project day at Home Depot. Today's project was constructing a wooden Valentine's mailbox and personalizing it with their own paint colors. They're very happy to have earned another project pin for their Workshop Aprons today.  :)

Art Smarts Project

Here is Avery's latest Art Smarts project. Today she created a colorful bird on a lunch sack that was crinkled to give the appearance of Amate paper. This is my favorite one of her art pieces!

1st Visit to Bob's Big Boy

Today we had lunch at the famous Bob's Big Boy. Phil and I had remembered coming here many times as a kid and for some reason, this place always seemed to be one of my favorite restaurants to eat at.  Not sure if it was the all you can eat Sunday brunch or the declicious, little mandarin oranges I could never get enough of..lol! All in all, the food ended up being okay, not as good as I remembered, but they do offer a nice selection of desserts. Of course we couldn't leave without getting a picture of Avery and Callum standing next to the famous Big Boy statue. :)

Pizza Night

So Avery and Callum decided to help their dad with dinner the other night and make some delicious pizzas from scratch. Their dad cooks some awesome pizzas and this time wanted to get them involved. They each rolled their own  pizza dough and put their toppings on before cooking them in the oven. Oh, and their dad had made a couple of extra pizzas, pepperoni and basil, and barbeque rib with onions and barbeque sauce that were sooo delicious. We had so much fun making our delicious pizzas!!

                          Avery's delcious pepperoni pizza!
Callum's yummy 3 piece pepperoni pizza!
                                  Daddy's very delicious pizzas!!

Avery's Art Project

Today was Avery's first day of the Art Smarts program. The students learn many different types of art and its offered after school, which is the best part! I tried to sign up my little guy too, but he's not ready just yet. I'm hoping once he sees all the cool art his big sister is doing, he'll want to do it. Avery had done a beautiful painting of the Statue of Liberty for her first project!

Holiday Perfomances

Avery and Callum had their holiday perfomances at school this week. Parties and perfomances have seemed to be the theme of the week. This is their last week of school before Winter Break and they are so excited to have 3 entire weeks off from school. Yay!! I'm excited as well. It will be nice to slow things down a bit since has been, as expected, one superrrr busy month. Here are some photos of the kiddos perfomances.
